cliff. >>> new this morning, sentencing day for former d.c. council chair kwame brown. he pled guilty for bank fraud charges back in june. fox 5's melanie alnwick is live at the u.s. district court this morning with a look at what brown is facing. >> reporter: good morning. brown is facing perhaps a jail term but we'll see. his original plea agreement where he admitted guilty to all of those charms called identify six-month jail sentence but right now, prosecutors seem to be softening somewhat recommending to the judge just six days in jail for kwame brown and three years of supervised probation. it was really just a high profile fall from grace. brown held the district's second highest local elected office before pleading guilty in june to providing false information on bank loan applications. one of the loans was for a 39- foot, 330-horsepower boat. brown also forged the signature of a friend on an application and doctored two forms to overstate his income by tens of thousands of dollars. another case involved an audit by d.c.'s office of campaign finance and that found that brown's
morning. good to be with you. i'm terrell brown. we begin with the resignation of cia director david petraeus. lawmakers want to know if national security was compromised by the extramarital affair that forced him to step down and why they weren't told sooner. it was harassing emails allegedly from petraeus' mistress to another woman that triggered an fbi probe. tara mergener is in washington with details. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning. jill kelly took her concerns to the fbi several months ago eventually exposing the affair. now congress is demanding more details. cbs news has learned this woman 37-year-old jill kelly triggered an fbi investigation leading to the resignation of cia director david petraeus. petraeus resigned friday after word got out he was having an affair with his biographer paula broadwell. his resignation caught many on capitol hill offguard. >> it was like a lightning bolt. >> reporter: kelly went to the fbi after allegedly receiving emails from broadwell warning her to back off and to stay away from her guy. broadwell made this comment about pe

one of its popular models. patti ann browne live in the newsroom with the details. >> toyota will recall 2.77 million vehicles worldwide including some of its popular prius hybrid cars. they say there are steering and water pump problems. it is the carmaker's second multimillion-dollar recall, vehicle recall in a little over a month. toyota says the defects have caused no accidents and can be fixed in an hour or so but this could cost hundreds of millions of dollars for toyota to repair, at least according to one auto analyst. while the recall is widespread, the flaws are considered less serious than in previous recalls in 2009 and 2011. in those, unintended acceleration problems in toyota vehicles were the suspected cause of fatal crashes in the united states. toyota this year recaptured the crown of the world's top automaker after last year's natural disasters which temporarily disrupted production in japan and thailand. this latest recall involves fixing a steering component that could be damaged by wear and tear and replacing water pumps on 630,000 gasoline electric hybri
